Founded in May 2025 by Louisiana-born, Texas-based author Isabelle McGee — soon to be Isabelle Herrscher — Bayou Bound Books is not a single-genre brand. It is a whole creative world built for the readers and writers who feel more at home in a story than anywhere else.

Bayou Bound Books publishes Southern Gothic horror fiction, personal narrative, guided mental health journals, and original short fiction through The Bayou Archive, alongside original oil pastel artwork and prints. About The Author:

Isabelle McGee is a Louisiana-born, Texas-based indie author, publisher, and founder of Bayou Bound Books. After years of balancing her passion for writing alongside a career in bartending, she left it all behind in May 2026 to pursue Bayou Bound Books full time. No backup plan. Just a deep belief that these stories matter and that the right readers are out there waiting for them.

She grew up in South Louisiana where the air is thick, the water is dark, and the stories are older than anyone alive to tell them. That upbringing shapes everything she writes — the atmosphere, the tension, the specific weight of familiar places that feel slightly wrong. Her horror is written through the lens of mental health and real human experience, drawing fear from the psychological weight of everyday moments rather than monsters or jump scares. It is the kind of horror that does not chase you. It waits for you to recognize it.

Louisiana folklore — the Rougarou, the Feu Follet, haint blue, the Honey Island Swamp Monster — forms the mythological foundation of the fiction she is building. These are not research topics to Isabelle. They are the stories she grew up breathing.

In August 2026, Isabelle McGee will become Isabelle Herrscher. Her voice, her brand, and her bayou-bound stories will remain exactly the same.
