Bayou Bound Books is an independent publishing brand born from Louisiana roots, Spanish moss, and stories that refuse to stay quiet. Founded in May 2025 by Louisiana-born, Houston-based author Isabelle McGee, now publishing as Isabelle Herrscher, Bayou Bound Books is not a single-genre brand. It is a whole creative world built for readers who feel more at home in a story than anywhere else.

Bayou Bound Books publishes Southern Gothic horror fiction, personal narrative, guided mental health journals, and original short fiction through The Bayou Archive, alongside original oil pastel artwork and prints. Everything created under this brand is connected by the same thread: honest, dark, deeply human, and unapologetically Southern.

About The Author

Isabelle Herrscher is a Louisiana-born, Texas-based indie author, publisher, and founder of Bayou Bound Books. After years of balancing her passion for writing alongside a career in bartending, she left it all behind in May 2026 to pursue Bayou Bound Books full time.

She grew up in South Louisiana where the air is thick, the water is dark, and the stories are older than anyone alive to tell them. That upbringing shapes everything she writes: the atmosphere, the tension, the specific weight of familiar places that feel slightly wrong. Her horror is written through the lens of mental health and real human experience, drawing fear from the psychological weight of everyday moments rather than monsters or jump scares.

The town she grew up in was tiny and surrounded by water, the kind of place where everybody knows everything and nobody says it out loud. Years behind a bar taught her even more about what people won’t say to each other’s faces. That’s what she writes about, the quiet, the half-truths, the things people carry for decades. Her upcoming novel, The Tooth Fairy Drowns Here, follows a woman who goes home to clear out her father’s house and starts to wonder whether her own childhood memories are even real.

Bayou Bound Books was founded under Isabelle’s maiden name, Isabelle McGee. In August 2026 she married and now publishes as Isabelle Herrscher. Her first three titles, Prompt To Grow, Get Out of the Swamp, and Chasing 25, remain published under Isabelle McGee and will not be republished under her new name. Every title released from this point forward publishes under Isabelle Herrscher. Same author, same voice, same bayou-bound stories, just a new name for what comes next.
