My Birthday and My Favorite Holiday, One Day Apart

If you couldn't tell by literally the entire branding behind Bayou Bound Books, Halloween is my favorite holiday. And there's a reason for that. I almost was a Halloween baby.

My mom went into labor on Halloween, and my big brother was SO upset because he thought he wasn't going to get to go trick or treating. Like his whole night was ruined because of me lol. But my grandfather saved the day. He took him trick or treating, and they still made it to the hospital in time for me to be born on November 1st.

Growing up, a lot of my birthday parties landed right on Halloween. My friends and I would get all dressed up and go trick or treating together, and it honestly felt like the whole world was celebrating with me. Best birthday setup ever.

Then for my 16th birthday, my friends pulled off a surprise party for me on Halloween, and it was amazing. I still think about that one.

So when people ask why my brand is spooky, Southern Gothic, and obsessed with October, the answer is pretty simple. Halloween has always been mine.
